It has taken 98% of my time and thoughts lately. It has me travelling quite a bit, enjoying the perks of having an interesting and rather crazy job, but it's all I think about and do these days. There's really no point on describing what I do because I don't want to spend the next 5 minutes typing the same thing all over again. Need to get a life immediately...haha

Birthday

So yes, I just becamse 25 last Friday. And I don't feel weird, scared, old or anything like that. It's all good so far. And the birthday party I had was really, really good. It was a weird mix of people but I guess that's what made it so much fun. Thanks a lot to all those who came, and thanks a lot for the presents! Gracias Monica, Leo and Renacuaja! You guys really know what I like!

Tomorrow is the first day on my new job. I'm a tiny bit nervous, but I can't wait to start. Can't believe I'm saying this, but it really seems like this time it's going to be a solid, interesting job where I can grow (without dimishing the impact and importance of my former jobs). We'll see what happens.

Y otra vez, gracias!

Playa del Carmen

A few days ago, I came back from a four day trip to Playa del Carmen with La Renacuaja Loca. It's one of those places that you just don't get tired of going to. It was such a relaxing and fun trip, considering that out original schedule meant going to Los Cabos, which had to get cancelled after hurricane John hit with all its' strength. The flight and hence the entire trip was cancelled minutes before boarding the flight to San Jose del Cabo, and luckily, we were given the option to change to another resort town with no penalties.

The weather forecast showed to there would be rain in Playa del Carmen for the whole week, but we decided to take our chances because we certainly didn't want to go to Los Cabos to spend four miserable days in a shelter, and because we didn't want to spend four days in rainy Mexico City, doing nothing.

Everything turned out to be perfect. There was just a bit of light rain when we arrived, but it was soon gone. And as soon as we checked into the hotel, we were lucky enough to get an upgrade to a junior suite in the best part of the hotel ( you know how fucking charming I am - it's no surprise we got that free upgrade haha). The room was out of this world: comfortable, luxurious and incredibly beautiful. Marble and wood everywhere, rose petals, plenty of drinks and daily amenities.

And yes, they weather. It just rained for a couple hours late at night, and during the day the sky was completely clear. The ocean was nice and warm, not rough at all, and the hotel was quite empty, which meant no problems moving around, no waiting for a table at restaurants and superb service.

Something creepy did happen while having drinks at one of the bars the night before coming back home. La Renacuaja Loca took a picture of me sitting at the bar, smoking a cigarrette. As soon as I looked at it, I realized something was just not right. A creepy face came out from the combination of smoke and a dude's white shirt. Take a look at it and tell me what you think. It was the talk of the night at the bar and at the lobby. Everyone looked at it, freaked out and told countless stories of different ghosts that requently appear around the hotel. Needless to say, it was one scary but fun night.

Is this what everyone wants?

As expected, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has taken his populist nonsense to a new height: he has blocked one of Mexico City's most important avenues to put up tents where thousands of his supporters can sleep and protest until all presidential votes are counted ballot by ballot. Needless to say, it is completely chaotic to move around the city these days, and it seems like things will get even worse. Rumour has it that most important avenues will be blocked sooner than later, as well as airports and highways. And all in the name of democracy,as he says. It is clear that this is a blatant lack of respect for authority and federal institutions, so I cannot even think what would happen if this fucker makes it to the chair. But of course, thousands of peasants support him all the way, but it isn't even clear to them whatis it that they are looking for. Lopez Obrador, you lost! If you want to do something for democracy in this country, stop this bullshit now! After this, who would want to have you in power?

Elecciones

July has been an awful month in many ways for us Mexicans, because we just had the closest and most disputed presidential elections in the country's history, with no official winner for the time being. It's been clear that there is no respect nor trust for the Electoral Institute in this country, and that respect is a word that a specific candidate has decided to erase from his vocabulary a long time ago. Lopez Obrador does not accept he lost despite the fact that these elections were the most transparent ever. But of course, nothing else could be expected from someone who controls masses with a cheap, populist speech who could easily turn things violent all over Mexico. But oh well, we'll have to wait until a final decision is taken by the Electoral Court. In the meantime, let us hope for the best and for the Court to take a smart decision. No matter what, let's hope that people stay cool and don't lose it anytime soon. Please, stay cool.

Besides the World Cup action, I'm in the middle of taking final exams right now, and it's being hell. The exam system at my university is by far the most retarded, confusing and old system I've even seen. it makes mideterms and projects done during the course completely worthless, unless you get a ridiculous amount of points on the final exam. I should've known. I would've done nothing but scratch my balls all day long, avoiding papers and midterms, and just focusing on passing that stupid exam. But let's not forget that I only pay 75 cents a year (and that Mexican pesos, not dollars), so all I can do is shut up and be a good community member that says nothing but glorious things about my school. Fuck that. What a big lie and a waste of time.

Anyway, get ready for tomorrow's game! Mexico takes on Angola, and it seems like Mexico will win and qualify to the next round. Not everyone could make it this time because of tight schedules and other things, but in the end the right and completely wrong mix of people ended up going. The right mix involved Los Compadres, and the wrong was a couple unknown dudes and girls that showed up invited by someone else who didn't quite spoil the trip, but where seconds away from really fucking it up. Besides that, this trip was a huge blast and it was just insane. So many things happened in such a short time, and for some reason I realized a bunch of things all of a sudden. One truth after another. A bit shocking and a bit of a downer, but I'm glad it finally happened. Que pedo con la cantidad de netas que me cayeron de madrazo! Eran cosas que yo ya sabía pero que de una manera u otra siempre traté de evadir, y no se por qué.

On Friday morning I flew from Acapulco to Oaxaca to meet my parents there and spend the weekend there, and attend a baptizement (or however you call that) of my mom's boss' kid. I wasn't exactly thrilled about going for that, but it was AWESOME. It was a traditional Oaxacan event, with lots of folk dancing, local food, great music and good drinks. And I don't know what is it about Oaxaca. It really is a magical place. So beautiful, so mysterious and so diverse.

Back to school

It has been around a month since I went back to school after a long period of academic inactivity that was substituted by travel, professional experience and bringing to new heights the concept of being a real HUEVON. For those who don't speak English, a quick Google search would do. I'm just too huevon to exaplin what it means.

Anyway, here I am back again in school. I'm not sure what to think about it. At the beginning I was extremely excited and looking forward to lots of new things, new university, new courses, new everything. now I'm not so sure. Yes, I'm trying hard and I'm really trying to do my best, but sometimes I just go insane. Since most of my professors don't have a life, they expect us to do exactly the same as them, and they give us ridiculous amounts of readings, assignments, tests and what not. Seriously, UBC was a joke compared to this. But we'll see how it goes. I'm getting good grades and what not, but it's been quite a challenge, especially because I don't even remember when was te last time I typed an essay in Spanish. It really feels like I'm learning how to do it all over again.

To top things off, I've had a week full of doubts and lots to think about with a few issues that have come up all of a sudden. It's stuff that I really have to deal with to be ok with myself, but I just haven't quite found the time to sit down and have a good thought about the whole thing. Thanks May for the sound advice! And thanks to everyone else who lent an ear and told me what they thought. It's nothing serious, but it's one of those things that kinda bother you and you just want to check with someone wether you've been doing the right things or not.

When things really slow down...

It's hard to believe how things just slow down really bad all of a sudden, when as you can see on the pics below, things were quite busy and full of fun not so long ago. With this I'm not saying that I'm not doing good, but I guess I'm just trying to say that I'm not exactly amazed with the extremely slow mood of things these day. Yes, of course there's tons going on getting ready for Christmas and the likes, and things will get even busier pretty soon, but still, I just find things really slow, or let's say, downright boring. I'm bored as hell. Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm dying to get really busy once again because this is messing me up mentally. I don't think I'd ever been in such a big mental and intellectual slump before, and it's really driving me crazy. I know, lots of people tell me to get out there and meet people and do things, but it's not that easy. Can't wait to go back to school in February, I'm sure things will pick up a lot. I'm really excited about it, especially because I got accepted into one of Mexico's top universities in my field and it's going to be truly stimulating in every way.

And oh yes, the friends. Where did they go? I know everyone is really busy and I'm not, but it would still be nice to hear a little bit from you guys once in a while. Drop a line please! I just want to know how everyone's doing, and of course wish you a Merry Christmas.

Chale.

<img border='0' style='border:1px solid #000000; As I said before, I will let you guys know about the trip to Japan. It was out of this world, it was AWESOME, it was exactly what I needed and what I was looking for,a nd it helped me reassure a few things that weren't quite clear. You know, after I came back, I had that weird feeling that you get once once of your dreams is fulfilled: you knida feel like you wish it didn't happen because now there's not much to look forward to. But I was wrong, because now I'm going to try as hard as I can to go back as soon as possible.

As my good friend Jerry pointed out while I was visiting him in Osaka, there is something so attractive about Japan that is almost impossible to describe. I think I know what it is. It's a mix of ancient culture, peaceful settings, vibrant cities, sophistication and elegance put together with never-ending kitsch, the hospitality of its people, the culture, the language, the FOOD...everything! It's funny how Japan can easily try people's patience and take it to the extremes, and how it can relax you to a point where it seem that the whole journey is more of a spiritual one.

It will be hard to mention all the things I did and the places I went day by day, so I will just name the cities I visited and what happened there in a nutshell. If I miss out any names, please don't be offended, I'm sure those missed out will understand.

NARA- This is the place where I spent most of my time. Some people laugh when I said that Nara was my base, but really, it is one awesome place. It's so full of history and it's so relaxing; I had quite a few inspiring moments at the pagodas and Nara park. Not to mention visiting La Renacuaja Loca, who made my time there and most of the trip both possible and incredible. Eternal gratitude goes to you! Arigato gozaimasu!!!I'll never forget your hospitality, kindness and care. Eeespaidermaaaaan, el hombre arañaaaaa! hahaha

OSAKA- What an awesome city. At first glance, it is rather uninspiring, but once you get to know the right places and the warm, loud people you notice what a cool place it is. Spending quality time with my good friend Jerry was the highlight of being there, together with the fun reunion with former ELI students. Endless conversations, great sighseeing, good food and brutal dart contests at the bar. Thanks a lot Gerardo, it really meant a lot to me. And of course, congratulations for you and Eri!

KYOTO- Damn, what can I say. This is one of the places that I wanted to see the most. How beautiful and how historic. Walking around Gion, visiting Kiyomizu, and feeling the peace of Toji temple really created an impact on me. This place is a MUST if you ever go to Japan.

FUKUCHIYAMA AND MIYAZU- Both beautiful places, the highlight of my days there was seeing my good friend Mari and meeting her friends, especially the Kaneshita family. Their hospitality was just beyond me, it really moved me and made it very special. Miyazu is a place to go to if there's time in your schedule. Don't miss it: the sights are breathtaking.

KOBE- By far, one of my favourite places in Japan to spend the day with good company. I was really amazed at how the city recovered from the devastating earthquake in 1995 and built a beautiful place that reminded me a of Vancouver. Thanks Tosh and Sachiko for showing us around! It was a lot of fun!

HIROSHIMA- This city really created a huge impact on me. Not only did I have an out-of-this-world experience near the A-Bomb Dome, but became truly aware of the horror inflicted by the A-Bomb. Too bad I couldn't spend another day there, because it is certainly worth it.

TOKYO- What can I say. I was DYING to visit Tokyo and feel its vibe and see it all. And I wasn't disappointed at all. Athough chaotic, Tokyo is such a fun, interesting place that really made me want to live there someday. It's just so much FUN! And crazy too, which is something that I love. Thanks a lot for letting me stay at your place, Mari! And thanks to the TUA people, the Taisho people, Konno Ai, Yachi Anne, Emiliana, Mie and Akina, Yurie, Yumi, Shoko and everyone else who made my time there so much fun. There were some people that I really wanted to see and tried hard to, but trust me, I did my best to see everyone but it's not always possible. Gomen ne.

NAGOYA- Although not in my top five list of favourite cities, I was able to spend precious time with Chika and the Ogawa family. They treated me like a king. Every second spent there was almost regal and made me feel so comfortable and gave me that much-needed family feeling after a long trip. I'm glad to know you're getting better, Chika. Thanks a lot to you and your lovely family.

KUMAMOTO- I really wish I could've stayed longer here. But unfortunately I was just able to spend oone night there. You can immediately feel the laid back Kyushu atmosphere upon arrival. Not to mention the AWESOME time spent with Coops. thanks a lot for everything, my friend. Too bad we couldn't talk as much as we wanted to, and too bad we didn't have enough time for endless laughs and inside jokes. But the few hours spent there are something I'll never forget. And trust me, I DID like basashi! Don't get mad! hahaha thanks a lot pendejazo.

Seems to me like this is a fairly decent short description of the trip. Please let me know if there are any omission and I'll be quick to write about them. If not, well, that's just too bad.

back from Japan

I know I hardly ever post anything and the chances of posting again soon are quite slim, but I wanted to let everyone know I'm back in Mexico after one of the best trips I've ever had. Well, it all turned out to be a complete fiasco. I was the victim of a disorganized promotion that was aimed to saving the company thousands of dollars in salaraies and exploiting employees to the maximum. And yes, I was the main victim of such thing. I found myself working my ass off from Monday to Saturday, sometimes at home, making a miserable salary that was just unacceptable for the workload I had. That is without even mentioning the amoun of negative pressure I was dealing with, which is something I really don't want to remember. So one day I said that's it. I'm quitting. It wasn't easy, because the managers didn't want me to leave. We tried to re-negotiate salaries, working conditions and dutiers, but we didn't agree. So here I am, jobless. To be honest, I feel like a 50 kilo bag has been taken off my back. It's a real shame that I'm not working because I love to work, but this was more about slavery than anything else. Anyway, what's next? JAPAN!!! I'm off to Japan on August 8th, so for those who didn't know this, please let me know what your plans look like during August and the first days of September, I would love to see as many people as possible.

Please let me know!

New position,back to my hometown

To be honest, I don't really know how much I enjoy posting stuff here. Not that I don't like my friends to know what's going on with me or that I don't like to share things with others; I guess I feel like this is very impersonal and I wish I could talk to everyone and tell thwm face to face, or at least by phone, what I usually say in this blog, although it seems there isn't much to say anyway. I guess I'm a bit sensitive these days, I don't know why.

Alright, so it turns out that a few weeks ago, as I was doing the usual tasks at the office in Queretato, I get a phoen call from the general manager, asking me to finish off what I was doing, say goodbye to everyine at the office, pack everything that I have in Queretaro and move back to Mexico City that same day, because I had to be ready by 9 am at the headquarters here in Mexico City since they needed me here. Little did I know that I was appointed sales manager for the Mexico City area of Great Dane Trailers. I mean, what the fuck??? I've never even sold a pencil, left alone a $35,000 trailer! I never imagined it was going to be so damn tough. Now that I think of it, what I had been doing back in Queretaro is a complete joke compared to what I do now. I never thought I was going to get promoted so fast (within 6 months) but it's a really awesome opportunity. I even have a secretary now, and I have NO IDEA what to do with her, or what she can do for me because I'm so used to doing everything myself. I guess I'm gonna start giving her annoying duties, like sending her to the bank to pay my cell phone bill, or making her pull pranks on the phone to my friends. I could even send her to the dry cleaner to take my suits and pants, or make her go and get me a sandwich to the store! But I would never do anything like that, I'm not that mean. Wouldn't it be nice though?

Yes,I'm still alive

Well, where the hell should I start? It's been over 2 months since I last posted I think, I don't even remember. Anyway, it's been a couple of eventful months for sure, and they have been awesome. It would be stupid to complain as I've been having a blast although work has taken most of my time.

To start off with,I should mention the fact that I went on my first trip abroad sent by the company. I went to Savannah, Georgia. My expectations were kep at their lowest because I'd heard some negative stuff about that town, you know, that it's just a shithole with nothing to do. But that wasn't the case. Savannah can be a very sophisticated and beautiful city if you appreciate southern hospitality and charm. The hotel where I stayed was by far one of the nicest I've stayed at, and the course that I took was long and complicated but very interesting at the same time. It's awesome to travel with an unlimited budget, eating and drinking whatever you want, and getting to know the business right were everything happens. Going to the Great Dane Trailers plant was very very interesting; I actually saw one of the trailers that I designed right on the production line. The feeling of seeing 30 people working on a trailer that I designed in Mexico is really exciting and made me feel proud of what I do.

Right after coming back from Savannah, and I mean 4 hours after I got off the plane, Renita arrived at Mexico City. It was so good to see her again, although we had already broken up. It was truly revitalizing to have her next to me, and to talk about all those things that were left unsaid. Those where two awesome weeks that were a lot better than we expected. It was such a stress-free and fun time that I'll always remember. Thank you very much for coming,Renita. I'll never forget how sweet and cute you are.

A few weeks ago my friends and I decided to take off to Acapulco. I couldn't go with them straight away because I had to work, and I had to make a presentation at the company's headquarters for the whole group. That being a complete success, I was given clearance to join the boys once I finished presenting. It was excellent. It was by far one of the most mellow trips I've ever been to,and all we did was lie down by the poolside and the beach, having beers and listening to great music. Things got a big crazy as one would expect when a bunch of boys on their twenties are left alone in Acapulco, but it was a awesome nonetheless.

Well,I guess that's it for now. I guess I said there was a tons that I had to write about, but I guess not. Hopefully something interesting will happen soon for me to post.

work,work,work

I would like to apologize for the longest time without posting aything; work has been extremely busy and I just don't think it will slow down in the foreseeable future. Lots of people give me crap because of my music preferences, but I couldn´t care less. I escaped from work on Friday and came to Mexico City to the concert that I had been waiting for...5 years that was!

It took us 2 hours to get to the damn arena because of the insane traffic jams in Mexico City, so despite my efforts of being the first one there, we got there late, when the concert had already started. It´s impossible to describe how pissed off I was, I even had a huge stomach ache. But after that everything was amazing.

For those of you like me who can´t live without music, I´m sure you´ll understand what I mean. That concert just opened my eyes and my soul in a weird way, and I hadn´t felt so alive and well in years. You know,at some point of the concertt I felt like I was completely out of myself. I ompletely forgot that my best friend was there next to me,and I felt I was somewhere beyod that shithole called Palacio de los Deportes. I can even say that this was a huge orgasmic experience, and when it was over, i felt like I was floating. Bear in mind there were no drugs involved. And of course, I got the typical post-concert blues that I´m still trying to fight against. Back to reality. And back to work tomorrow. Such is life.

Queretaro

It´s now official: I have been appointed to the Queretaro office of Zapata Distribution, and I will work in a project called Great Dane! yay! I´m so happy to joing the workforce once again! It really seemed like it wasn´t gonna happen anytime soon, but here I am, packing and getting ready to leave tomorrow afternoon. Wow, I really can´t explain how excited I am! this is the kind of job that looks extremely promising and will make me grow tons if I put the effort and the brains to it, which I certainly win. Once again,a new venture. New city, new job,new house, new everything. Please wish me luck, and I´ll keep in touch as much as I can. I start work on Tuesday morning, and I´m very very excited about it. It´s my birthday! To be honest, I wasn´t excited at all about it a few days ago; it was more of a remainder of how fast life is running, and how hard it is to keep up with it. But somehow I am now quite excited about the whole birthday issue, I´m getting excited for tomorrow and all I want is to hear a big "happy birthday" from those that I care for and that I assume care for me too.

For those who are in Mexico City right now and have nothing to do, you´re more than welcome to come to my place at 8 pm for drinks and laughs. It´s pointless to write down the address, pretty much everyone knows where I live.

After the longest time without posting...

First of all,I want to apologize for not posting for such a long time. I guess it´s due to a lack of things to say and no inspiration whatsoever. But here aI am once again. Things around here have been interesting to say the least. I had the opportunity to work for UBC as a translator on their last visit to Mexico City, and it was awesome. It was one of those times when you don´t mind getting up for work at 5 am,when you already know you probably won´t make it home until 9 or 10 pm. But it was an interesting experience that I certainly want to repepat someday...it´s just so much fun believe it or not!

The highlight of the month is the fact that my heart has a new owner! It all happened a few weeks ago, and all I can say is I´m really really happy and I feel like I´m floating. It´s amazing how we can feel all these love-related things once again, even though we know t won´t happen again after a big heart break. But no,I´m going through it right now, once again! Thanks a lot for making me so happy,Renita. En serio.

A few hours ago I got a phone call from a friend´s dad who works for Mercedes Benz and wants my resume! cross your fingers everyone!

with beautiful Rena

back in Mexico

Well,I guess it´s time to post again after a month of not doing so. The reason why I didn´t post was,as you guys already know, that I was in Vancouver, but it was just incredibly busy when I was there. There really wasn´t time to even reply properly to e-mails or anything of that sort. But now I´m back in good ol´Mexico City, back to routine, and to be honest, I don´t know how happy I am to be back. It was of course a huge thrill to see my family again, but seriously, I really don´t like living in this city that much anymore. There´s definetely lots of amazing things here, but I guess I can´t help it but focus on the negative aspects. Oh well.

Vancouver was just amazing. It was great going back to one of my favourite cities in the world, and one that has seen my best and toughest moments of school life. It was very relaxing, meeting good friends and just having a great time overall. Not much can be said except for good things great times. I´ll try to post a few pics as soon as I can.

Vancouver

Just in case I didn't tell some people, yes, I'm in Vancouver now. I left lst Monday, and due to a huge delay, I had to spend the night in Houston in a 5 start hotel with salmon dinner and fresh croissants in the morning, courtesy of Continental Airlines. And after that I came here, and I must admit that I felt weird at the beginning. It felt like I never left, but at the same time so many things changed. I'm really really happy to be back, but lots of memories from the past have invaded me and now I realize more than ever how much I miss those that I used to hang out with when I was here at UBC. But oh well, people come and go, and who knows what will happen this time, or who am I gonna meet. I'll try to post more often, but I guess it'll e a bit difficult because it seems I'll be very busy. But I'll do my best!

Today,as I was sleeping deeply dreaming of a huge orgy with a bunch of Playmates in a tropical setting (yeah right!), I was woken up with my sister´s hellish voice and a smack on the face. Considering that this way of waking up is enough to spoil someone´s morning and immediately lead to a temper tantrum, I was just about to yell at her and possible throw anything that I could get a hold of right at that time. But no, it wasn´t her that slapped me. She threw something at me,and that something was a big yellow envelope fresh from the mail box. And yes, it was from Kyle "El Cabron" Cooper. For those of you that don´t know Kyle, he was my co-worker in Vancouver, but after a few months he became one of my best buds. Inside the envelope I found this long long, yet informative letter, a postcard and two CD´s that are just hilarious, well, only one of them (the funny one) is called Cheese Hits of All-Time. I really don´t wanna go in-depth and tell you guys why this CD is funny, because this is more of an inside joke. not that I don´t wanna tell, but it´s just a long story. Seriously, the envolope I got this morning made my day and made me realize how much I miss my true friends that are far from me right now. I don´t even have to say who you guys and girls are, because you already know it. Anyway, thanks a lot Coops!

A few minutes ago, I was watching a famous Mexican talk-show that I hadrly ever watch. But this time it was really interesting. They had this dude who devotes his life to ghosts and freaky shit go to the show and he showed some videos of exorcisms and voice recordings in cemeteries. I´d say I´m skeptic about all those things, but this time I really freaked out. It was real stuff and it really made me wonder about the existence of such things that we hardly think of,unless we experience them. You really had to watch what they showed to understand what I say. Even right now my sister is kinda shocked. But it was fun watching that....TV in Mexico is as boring as listening to a bowling match on the radio, so it was a nice change.

Tomorrow I´m applying for a consular assistant position at the British Embassy. Wish me luck guys!

Weekend

After a long time of not posting anything, here I am once again to keep up with the tradition of boring everyone with my posts. Last weekend, we celebrated my dad´s birthday with a huge lunch. The family was invited, and when I say the family, I´m talking of about 30 people. But the highlight was that we invited a few of my dad´s friends that lost touch with him many years ago, including two cousins that left Mexico 30 years ago. But the cool thing is that my dad never even thought that these people were coming,so it was a huge surprise for him. These days his health has been quite bad and we just went through really scary days as we feared he had a major health problem, but luckily things aren´t that bad with him and he´ll be able to recover; not soon, but little by little. So it was great to finally see him smile, and to see him enjoy himself like a little kid. I just put myself on his shoes for a minute, and I think I´d crap my pants if I was to see all those I love next to me, at least expected moment.

After that I ended up going to this weird party where everyone had to wear black clothes and a tattoo. I ended up painting something on my face that really looked like a tattoo and it was quite cool...to bad I have no pics, but if I manage to get one, I´ll make sure to show all of ya.

A few nights ago I had the weirdest dream ever,it was about something I´ve never even thought of doing and I never will. I had this dream about me jumping into the shower, and in my dreams, there was this kinda law where people my age had to die in order to keep the population down, plus some religious belief. So once I was done taking a shower, I broke my neck with my own hands, and then everything turned black and that was it, I was dead. I woke up scared to death, and I don´t know if dreams have meaning or not, but I just hope it means something good. For those of you who believe dreams have meanings, what do you think of this one? Please tell me,I´d love to hear some ideas.

Anyway, I´ll better hit the sack soon. A long lineup awaits me at the Canadian Embassy tomorrow morning.

Euro 2004 final

Damn! Who would´ve thought that Portugal and Greece are the ones playing the final game in a few hours? talk about how unpredictable soccer can be! I guess it kinda makes sense that Potrugal made it this far thanks to their Host condition, but once again, I really don´t think they have the skills nor the experience to play the final game. And no point taking about Greece! I just can´t believe it! To be honest, I think Greece has nothing when it comes to soccer..sure,they had a couple of good games, but their system is boring and dull, and it´s based on taking advantage of the slightest mistake any team makes. Not to mention the never-ending tackles and roughness. But oh well, I guess that´s what made them get to the final stage. But wether they win or not that´s completely irrelevant; the fact that they beat the crap out of the French is good enough.

The next tournament is the Copa America, which starts next week I think. Mexico is bound to do really well on this one, but I dn´t think they´ll win the cup. I think this time either Brazil or Peru will win. But that remains to be seen. Sadly enough, there´s no way Mexico will win simply because the refs always go against the Mexican squad...it´s well known that our team is not liked in South America. Kinda weird that everytime Mexico makes it to the semi final of the final, they end up getting players kicked out of the game for no reason and thus losing at the end. I guess it would really hurt to have a North American team win a South American cup,eh?

Anyway, as you guys might realize, there´s not much I can talk about because there isn´t much happening besides soccer. Oh, I have a job interview next week! please cross your fingers for me!

back

Despite my reluctance and the many failed attempts to persuade my parents against going to San Luis Potosi, I was pretty much forced to go with the whole family to my brother´s son´s First Communion. I was kinda pissed off on the way there, especially considering that it took us an hour an a half to make it to the highway thanks to the ridiculously dense traffic jam. But for some strange reason, everything started to get better and better as time went by, and the trip proved to be quite enjoyable. Althought there´s absolutely NOTHING to do in San Luis (can´t buy beer after 9 pm,for example) I had a great time with the family, especially pulling endless pranks on my cousin. The weather was perfect, and it was a great change from Mexico City´s weather, which isn´t that bad,but it´s just that it doesn´t stop raining these days. Anyway, I guess there isn´t much I can say about the trip; the odds of something exciting or unusual happening in San Luis are pretty much nil.

I´ll carry on with the job hunting this week. Hopefully something comes up soon. And once again, I feel something big is coming up quite soon, hopefully it´s something good.

Today there was a huge protest in Mexico City against the rising crime and kidnapping levels. Seriously guys, this place is getting really scary these days. A statistic came out recently saying that Mexico City is the the world´s 2nd place for kidnappings. How scary is that? So at the end, around 2.5 million people ended up going to the protest, everyone dressed in white, and it was a really touching scene, especially in a city like this one where there is no sense of unity of any kind. Too bad the authorities won´t do anything based on what happened today, but who knows, maybe one or two of those corrupt assholes thinks about it for a second and takes appropiate action. It´s very frustrating to live in a place where thieves and criminals have more rights than tax paying citizens, and where you just don´t know what can happen once you leave home.

Anyway, it wasn´t my point to make this post a depressing one! I guess I would just love to see something good happen in this city.

San Luis

ok,I´mm off to San Luis Potosi in a few minutes....ah,I can´t wait! But here I am again, with a little update of my life these days. my friends from England came, and although it was a very short visit, I have to say I had a blast with them. Catching up on news and going back to the past was the est part, because I hadn´t seen nor talked to them since I was in London a few months ago. And even though they´re well-travelled,intelectual people who have seen most of the world, they really liked Mexico. It feels great whenever I saw their amazed faces; apparently Mexico City is a very complete city with anything you would expect to see in a big city anywhere, but with a little extra touch: the awkward blend of a rich, cosmopolitan society and an extremely poor segment of the population with indigenous beliefs and lifestyles. For example, during a visit to dowtown Mexico City, we entered the Metropolitan Cathedral to take a look at the splendour and beauty of such an ancient building, complete with the pretentious art and deco of colonial times. But then suddenly, while looking at 16th century paintings of saints, a group of more than 100 natives wearing war outfits came in, blowing conches and playing pre-hispanic flutes and singing Catholic songs in their dialects. That´s when you just want to take a step back and decide where is it that you live: in Mexico or somewhere else.

Apart from that, everything´s being simply hanging out with friends and makiing the best out of the involuntary free time that I have right now. I´ve had a lot of time to think about lots of things that I just avoided before, and it has proven to be fruitful. Thank God I´ve been able to get over a few issues that really had me worrying for no good reason, and I´ve realized that certain people change dramatically when you least expect it. A big letdown for those who care for a certain person, but that´s ok, everyone has priorities and maybe some day they´ll see who´s who and who really cares. Oh well, enough of that!

One of the most exciting things for me these days is Euro 2004 in Portugal. I just can´t get enough soccer action! It´s gonna get really good soon. I´m pretty sure that France will win once again, but who knows? who do you guys think is gonna win this time?

Anyway, enough of me just blabbering. Post something please!!! I really want to know if there´s someone reading my posts, or if I´m just wasting my time! haha

aaaaahhh finally!

This might sound really weird for some, but I couldn´t wait for Monday to come.I´m so glad that finally I could relax! Once again, the weekdn was crazy, with people coming over and leaving at 7 am,and then going to the pub on Saturday night and then oing to bed at 7 once again. That goes without mentioning the incredible amount of people that came over for lunch and random visits. It´s funny how I don´t have a minute for myself in my own house. But today,FINALLY, I was able to kick back and seriously chill. I know I should be working or going to school on a Monday, but unfortunately I haven´t had answers from companies and school wil have to wait until I get the funds to pay for it. Para los que estan en Mexico (y tambien para los que no) si saben de una chamba, porfa avisenme!!! me urge!!!

Dunno why, but I have the feeling that something big is coming up,and it´s something good. In a way I´m glad I didn´t get that British Airways job, because it would´ve stopped me from looking at the big picture, and although it was good money, I would´ve probably found myself with a bunch of regrets later on. We´ll see! let´s just hope this "big thing" comes soon!

when things get out of control...

losing energy

It really seems that these days, the partying and getting-together-with -friends just doesn´t stop. As much as I love it, I think I´m running out of energy, and going to bed at 6 am for the last 3 nights is finally taking a big toll on me. When I expected to have a quiet day, guess what? more than 25 people showed up at my place for lunch, which meant cooking a huge amount of prawns and lots of dishes, which I don´t mind of course as I love cooking. Anyway, let´s see what happens. The boys are coming over once again and I just hope we don´t pull an all-nighter!

A few minutes ago I heard from some friends in London, and they told me they´re coming to Mexico to stay at my place. I´m really looking forwrad to it! I´ll let you guys know what happens, and hopefully I´ll post a few pics here and there. I´m out of fresh pics to post, but maybe I´ll put some oldies up for everyone´s delight.

Weekend

Not so long ago,I was complaining about how boring weekends can be sometimes, especially when it comes to doing nothing on Friday nights. For me,weekends where boredom prevails have apparently being one of those trends we have in life, but I do have to say that this weekend was an exception to the rule. It was one of those weekends when you just don´t stop, going from place to place, hanging out with lots of people and just having a great time with the boys.

Although I´m not a big fan of nightclubs, I ended up going to one on Friday night, and I had a really good time after all. The first hour of being there was somehow dull because you can´t really predict how things will turn out as the night goes on,but it was good nonetheless. I guess the whole club scene, with a bunch of pretentious people wearing their best outfits and desperately trying to show they can be the most powerful ones on the food chain is just pathetic, but if all you´re looking for is to have a good time with your buds and dance and drink a little bit, who cares about the the others.

Then Saturday night came, when I just wanted to take it easy and get rid of the hangover caused by the bottles of crappy rum we had the night before, but since I hadn´t been able to see my friends that much, I decided to go with them to a party. The party itself wasn´t that great, but it was hosted by a radio station for their employees, and it included unlimited drinks, a nice live band and a somehow relaxed atmosphere, since this party wasn´t open to the the general public. It was good. But on the way home I saw something rather disturbing: I saw a brand new car in fire going quite fast, and with people still sitting inside and driving. And as it is expected in Mexico, the cops did nothing about it, they just followed the car and did nothing. It was one of those times when you want to get off the car and try to help out those poor guys, but I guess it would´ve been worse. I just hope those two didn´t die, or get seriolsly burnt, which arguably can be worse than death.

Then Sunday came, with no apparent sign of taking it easy for a few hours. But at the end we ended up going to a friend´s house to watch movies, have a beer or two and relax. I know I´m not fully describing how the whole weekend went, but trust me,it was really good.

And now that I´m posting something, I want to say hi To Karen Cho! I´m pretty sure it was you who posted a comment on my last post,am I right? Hope you´re doing well! remember to e-mail me sometime!

Memories

A few hours ago,we got a phone call from one of those friends that were an essential part of our childhood and that we grew up with, but due to a bunch of circumstances, life drifted us apart in mysterious ways. At the end, before finishing high school, I´d say he became just another guy in the classroom. But then, after 4 years of not seeing nor hearing anything from him, he gave us a phone call saying he´s in town and he wanted to see us (my sis and myself). I don´t know how I felt at the beginning when I saw him again, it was weird, exciting and uncomfortable. But then after a few hours of talking and catching up on things and talking about our memories, it ended up being a great thing. It was really cool to hear he´s almost done with Med school, and seeing how much he´s changed and all that. He brought with him tons of memories that were already gone from my head. And at some point,we just didn´t talk anymore...I guess the power of nostalgia hit us pretty damn hard at some point, or maybe we had a lot to talk about, or maybe we knew there was no time to go back and talk about our childhood experiences in-depth so why bother going there.

I don´t know what you guys think, but today I realized that there´s people that you really want to see again, but if you do, they just don´t fulfill your expectations. But if random people suddenly show up, they seriously create a good impact (not always,of course). Anyway, all I can say from this is that it certainly put a smile on my face. It´s just great to go back to those times that you can´t remember, and it´s even better when someone who was close to you remembers them so clearly.

Friday night

Friday nights can be,from personal experience, full of fun or downright depressing, provided that you have nothing to do. And yes,in this particular case,I find myself going through one of the most boring Friday nights ever. And I guess it´s due to the fact that my closest friends that I usually hang out are pilots, and they have really weird and socially-unfriendly schedules, so that means that if you really rely on them on a specific Friday night for a good time that includes drinks, laughter and a good time, well, you´re screwed. Not that I rely on them, but it´s just who I like to hang out with and who I see as my brothers here in Mexico....damn,I wouldn´t mind spending the weekend in Vancouver, where some of my best friends are (the ones in Japan too, but I guess that´s a little bit out of the budget-immense hugs go to Jerry and Kyle). Oh well, who knows. The night is still young, who knows what can happen, especially when you live in the world´s biggest city where there´s always something to do and see...but by the looks of it, I´m confined to stay at home, doing nothing! haha. But once again, who knows what could happen tomorrow. Anyway, I´ll make sure to post something if anything unusual comes up.

with Otis andCompadre

Insomnia

Don´t you guys hate it when your body is desperately trying to knock you down and put you to sleep, while you just toss and turn helplessly for hours? That´s exactly what I´m going through right now,and although,to be honest,I had no intention to post anything for the next few days due to a lack of things to say and creativity, I figure there´s not a lot to do besides this.

To make things even worse, last night I slept for 4 hours, then followed by a hectic day of walking around places and doing stuff around the house. Needless to say, taking care of 4 brats for 4 hours made matters a little bit worse. Bu tI guess the only highlight of being so tired and walking around like a zombie is that I made one of the best lunches ever: I cooked green sauce enchiladas, which isn´t precisely an easy task as it takes a lot of ingredients, patience and knowing when to stop throwing peppers into the sauce. Pretty good though. Glad to see everyone loved them.

As it usually happens when I can´t sleep,I can´t help it but think about completely irrelevant stuff and gradually start to worry about things that happened years ago, and crap that no one even remembers by now. How sad is that? Any advice on how to go to sleep without hitting the bottle? please let me know. Hopefully by the time someone gives me some input I´ll be sleeping like a baby.

Unusual Sunday

I don´t know how it is for you guys, but for me, Sunday is the most boring, uneventful day of the week. Nothing to watch on TV, everything´s pretty much closed, and those places that are open on Sundays are packed with families and no less that 50 or 60 crying babies. And to make things even worse, having to deal with the typical Sunday afternoon hangover combined with the knowledge that Monday is upon us. Oh God. Sundays should be deleted from our calendars. They make the unbearable lightness of being a real thing.

for some strange reason, this time,Sunday proved to be a really nice thing. As usual, all the family came over for lunch, which is quite an annoying experience although I love each and every single one of them. Imagine having to cook for an average of 25 indiviudals, plus 7 kids that just don´t know when to stop. But this time it was nice, dunno why. I guess it was because I won two consecutive table tennis torunaments that we had after lunch, or maybe because it was blazing hot after a month of nonstop rain.Who knows. Oh, or maybe because I´ve finally realized that this is the place wehere I belong, and this is my house, and this is my family. It just hit me really hard a few hours ago that I´m up for a new stage of my life. No more Vancouver. No more bouncing from one place to the other. It´s time to settle down in a country that I love and hate. It´s alright. Nothing better than being able to see mom and dad sitting at the backyard, having a good laugh while I beat the living crap out of everyone when playing table tennis. Nothing better than having my siblings bug me all day long, although I do have to say I´d like to shove the table tennis racket up their....And yeah,I don´t know why, finally I managed to really enjoy a Sunday. Why? who knows. Maybe because I feel good again. Back to my roots. Back to the place where I belong.I´ve been here for a long time now, but finally both my body and my mind are at the same place.

After all,Sundays can be quite enjoyable!

good times!

Hey everyone! as you might realise this is my very first post on my website, which will hopefully develop into something nice that will keep some of you posted on my whereabouts and other interesting (and not so interesting things).
